Q&A with Alistair;
What was your first bike?
A steel Raleigh Flyer, with very small wheels.
When not working you can be found?
Normally lying down reading or on a moor somewhere.
Favourite post ride food?
Depends on the weather but always something that isn’t good for me.
Turbo trainer or man up and get the lights / guards on?
Always man up.
Pick any Boardman frame and list your dream build?
Racing on the AIR9.8 with Sram Red and Zipp 404’s is a dream, but I don’t think you can beat the CXR for versatility. I have one set up as the perfect cross bike and one as the perfect winter bike.
Something no one would expect about you?
You should probably ask Jonny….
Your best memory while riding for at Boardman?
I’ve been lucky enough to be involved from the very start and went to the first launch at Longleat.
Your favourite ride and time of year to do it?
I love racing and riding the local chain gang in the summer, but it’s hard to beat a long (dry and sunny) winter ride with a cafe stop.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Follow your dreams.
Alistair rides ITU 'draft legal' races - using the aerodynamic properties of the AiR Signature frame. Full aero bars are not allowed, athletes can use the short clip-on aero bars, but Al chooses not to race with them.
