Overview
The 2021 Boardman MTR range of bikes are designed to be the perfect machines for all-round UK trail riding. Our brand new 29er platform with 145mm travel and trail-ready geometry is paired with 140 or 150mm forks and can take on rough and technical trails without being a burden on flatter, flowy sections. Longer reach figures, a slackened 66 degree head angle and custom-tuned, long-stroke RockShox shocks deliver composed handling and supple yet supportive suspension action whilst maintaining agility and pedalling efficiency.
The MTR 8.8 is the perfect bike for riders looking to get more serious with their trail riding. With a planted geometry, RockShox suspension and reliable Shimano drivetrain and brakes, it’s absolutely up to the task. Did we mention it also comes with a dropper post and tubeless Maxxis rubber too?
Using the same trail-ready geometry as the rest of the range, the MTR 8.8 gives a confidence inspiring ride as things get rough or steep. With a long reach to the bars increasing stability, and well-balanced weight distribution, you’ll have the confidence to challenge your limits. A RockShox Recon Silver RL fork offers 150mm of well controlled travel and has an adjustable air spring, rebound damping and lock out. The RockShox Deluxe Select+ rear shock also delivers a supportive 145mm of travel and features a lock out too.
Shimano M5100 series Deore gearing is 11 speed, and with an 11-51t cassette, provides a huge spread of gears for spinning up climbs and blasting down hills too. Shimano MT200 brakes help to keep speed in check as the trail heads downwards.
A wide 780mm bar and short 45mm stem combine with a Satori Sorata Pro dropper post, allowing you to steer precisely and move your weight around over the bike to fully exploit the grip on offer from the tubeless ready Maxxis Minion DHF and DHRII tyre combination.
