Overview
The MTR 8.9 offers a beautifully balanced specification, using the same frame geometry and rear suspension set up as the 9.0, but with our X7 triple butted alloy. Aggressive trail riding places big demands on your equipment, and the high-performing kit on the MTR 8.9 is more than up to the task.
SRAM provide their NX Eagle drivetrain, which combines a 12 speed 11-50t cassette with a 32T chainring to give plenty of range to tame steep climbs and pedal hard down the other side. Powerful 4 Piston SRAM Guide T brakes with 180mm rotors will keep your speed under control when you need it too.
Soaking up bumps and keeping wheels planted on the floor is taken care of with RockShox’s Gold 35 fork, and Deluxe Select+ shock in a custom tune. As the name suggests, the Gold 35 has a stiff 35mm chassis giving great steering precision throughout its 150mm travel. Steering control is further enhanced with a 780mm handlebar and 45mm stem, giving great stability and leverage to get the bike turned in hard.
Maxxis Minion DHF and DHRII tyres give great grip for hard cornering and braking and are mounted on 30mm internal width Boardman rims, needing only a tubeless conversion kit to ditch the hassle of inner tubes forever.
Finally, a Satori Sorata Pro dropper post with 125mm travel on size S and M, and 150mm in size L and XL will let you move around easily on the bike with the saddle dropped out of the way on technical terrain.
