“Our aim at Boardman is simple -
we want to create a great British cycling brand.”
The Company
Towards the end of 2004, Chris Boardman MBE and Alan Ingarfield (a former UK Ironman record holder) came together - and with their shared ambition, energy and vision created Boardman - a performance based British bike brand. The company was galvanised by building a team of specialists in all key areas ranging from design engineers, frame builders, investors through to specialist cycling business acumen, design and marketing.
Boardman Bikes
This new range covers road, mountain and performance hybrid bikes alongside clothing and accessories. It was important to find the right partner in order to take this exciting range to market, a company which shared our ambitions for the brand and also wanted to make great bikes easily available to the populous - Halfords was an obvious choice, especially since it is wholly committed to enhancing its overall commitment to the performance cycling sector.
“From my perspective, it is essential that all Boardman bikes set great riding performance standards and do exactly what is expected of them - this is a fundamental part of our collective vision and long-term ambitions for the brand.” We're also working on an elite project, Boardman Elite - developing world-class, high-end frames, forks and seat pins for the Road, Time Trial and Triathlon market - more about this later in the year.
Chris Boardman MBE.
Chris is involved from the start through to completion of every project - with the ultimate sign-off. Chris is the Director of Coaching and Research and Development for the GB cycling team.
Alan Ingarfield.
Alan's background as an elite sportsman provides a great insight into the end-user's mindset. Alan is responsible for identifying sponsorship opportunities across all disciplines - a task made easier by his extensive cross-discipline experience and a range of expertise and sporting connections developed through two decades of competition and coaching.
